Dresden-Klotzsche is home to one of the three locations of the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS. Here, processes, sensors and devices are developed for various types of non-destructive testing and monitoring from the sensor to the system. In the railroad sector, inspections in the wheelset area (ultrasonic technology for longitudinally drilled wheelset shafts, solid shafts, wheelset and shaft inspection in installed and removed condition) are a focal point. Further inspection tasks in the area of railroad infrastructure are processed within the framework of industrial cooperations.
