Our 101 Members

The Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS) is the public transport association for the region in Central Saxony/Germany concerning the cities of Chemnitz as well as the three administrative districts Erzgebirgskreis, Mittelsachsen and Zwickau. As the commissioning authority of the regional rail transport within its entire territory the VMS also organizes the local school transport within the area of the three districts. The VMS has driven forward and implemented numerous public transport projects in the two past decades: In particular the VMS has been very successful with the development of the expansion stages of the innovative infrastructure project "Chemnitz Model", the procurement of 52 new rail vehicles, the operation of our funicular railway in Augustusburg and the regular updating of the standard fare system.

As a part of Rail.S we look forward to an open and active exchange. It is essential for us to strengthen our existing contacts and further to establish new ones. We would like to share our knowledge about implementing public transport projects to other project owners and initiators
