EISENBAHN-CERT is a certification and inspection body for complex railroad systems and components. We were established to perform the tasks of a Notified and Determined Body as an independent and technically autonomous organizational unit at the Federal Railway Authority in Bonn. As a "Notified Body Interoperability", we operate in accordance with the Directive (EU) 2016/797 on the interoperability of the railroad system in the Community notified (identification number of the European Commission: 0893). This European directive has also found its expression in national law: in the Railway Commissioning Licensing Ordinance (EIGV) for railroad traffic.This ordinance transposes the requirements of the European directives into German law. For this purpose, conformity and suitability for use tests of interoperability constituents are carried out. In addition, EU tests are required with regard to the structural subsystems infrastructure, energy, control-command and signaling, and rolling stock. All of the aforementioned tests (EC certifications) can be performed by EISENBAHN-CERT, the Notified and Determined Body at the Federal Railway Authority.

The Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS) is the public transport association for the region in Central Saxony/Germany concerning the cities of Chemnitz as well as the three administrative districts Erzgebirgskreis, Mittelsachsen and Zwickau. As the commissioning authority of the regional rail transport within its entire territory the VMS also organizes the local school transport within the area of the three districts. The VMS has driven forward and implemented numerous public transport projects in the two past decades: In particular the VMS has been very successful with the development of the expansion stages of the innovative infrastructure project "Chemnitz Model", the procurement of 52 new rail vehicles, the operation of our funicular railway in Augustusburg and the regular updating of the standard fare system.
